AFIO gained a new chapter covering North Carolina and South Carolina when the Carolinas Chapter held its inaugural meeting on February 6, 2026, at the historic Dunhill Hotel in Charlotte, NC. The chapter had been charted by the AFIO national office in December 2025. The more than twenty intelligence professionals who attended the chapter's first formal gathering were joined and congratulated by Rich Tropea, AFIO Vice President for Chapters. The chapter subsequently held a luncheon meeting on May 19 in South Carolina. Rick Hudson is the chapter's president and Kerry Shackleford is the secretary.
