Vernon Dibeler - AFIO Member and CIA Computer and Telecom Systems Officer

Vernon H. Dibeler, II, passed away on May 16, 2025, at the age of 80, unexpectedly. He was born in 1945 in Washington, DC and raised in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Pennsylvania State University and later obtained a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. Colonel Vernon H. Dibeler, II, USAF, Retired, was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in December 1967. He entered active duty in February 1969, later transitioning to the Air Force Reserve in 1972. Throughout his distinguished 37-year career, he held a variety of command and staff positions across the munitions, data automation, and logistics career fields. As a civilian, Vernon spent over 29 years as a Computer Telecommunications Systems Officer and Project Manager on large national-level programs with the Central Intelligence Agency. His career was built on a strong foundation in project management, systems engineering, and IT leadership, with expertise in developing and overseeing mission-critical systems for government and intelligence agencies.  Read full obituary:
