Julian Leroy Fletcher, affectionately known to all as “Fletch,” passed away peacefully in Fredericksburg, Virginia, at the age of 93. Born in Marshall, Virginia, he was the beloved son of Margaret Reid Fletcher and Julian Raymond Fletcher.
A proud veteran, Fletch served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, answering his country’s call with courage and dedication. His military service was only the beginning, followed by a distinguished career of 32 years with the Central Intelligence Agency. He lived a life marked by patriotism, integrity, and a love for his country.
On June 18, 1955, he married the love of his life, Helen Pauline Smalley. Together, they shared 70 years of unwavering devotion, partnership, and joy. Their life was rich with family, travel, and countless memories made hand in hand.
Fletch was known and loved by so many — his easy smile, generous spirit, and warm heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether he was swapping stories with friends, enjoying a quiet moment with his wife, or spending time with family, he lived each day with gratitude and joy.
