Dennis L. Barton, 82, formerly of Silver Spring, MD, passed away peacefully January 12, 2026. Dennis was born on April 2, 1943, in Waynesboro, PA, to the late Lester M. Barton and Naomi G. Barton Essich.
He was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School Class of 1961 and went on to attend Dickinson College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics with a minor in Mathematics. He later pursued graduate studies in Electrical Engineering at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Dennis proudly served his country as an officer in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1967 to 1969. Upon completion of his military service, Dennis continued his career at NSA as a civilian employee, where he served from 1969 until 1997.
Following his retirement from federal service, Dennis remained active through private-sector employment with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) from 1998 to 1999 and ASE, Inc., a subsidiary of Booz Allen Hamilton, from 1999 until 2007.
On August 18, 1973, Dennis married Tania Brusble Rozenski in Woodbury, Connecticut. They shared many years together and resided in several communities, including College Park and Silver Spring, Maryland, before relocating to Lititz, PA, in 2016.
Dennis enjoyed a wide range of interests. He was an avid genealogist, a skilled woodworker, and took great pride in home remodeling and repair projects. He enjoyed skiing and boating at Deep Creek Lake, MD earlier in life and had a lifelong love for oldies music.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Tania Barton, and his sisters, Susan A. Toms, wife of Michael of Waynesboro, PA, Nancy K. Fream wife of Gregory of Hanover, PA, his sister in-law, Pauline Burns, wife of Joseph of North Falmouth, MA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, C. Gary Barton.
Dennis will be laid to rest in late Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Dennis’s honor.
