Barbara Taylor - Former CIA Admin Officer

Barbara Jean Taylor, nee Smith, passed away on January 17, 2026, after a brief illness. Barbara was born in Delaplane, Virginia, to Charles and Emma Smith on October 21,1937. She was the youngest girl of eight children. Her family would call her “Pokey” as a nickname that reflected her tendency to do nothing slowly!

Prior to Jeffrey’s birth and after he started high school, Barbara worked various high-profile administrative positions at the Central Intelligence Agency from where she retired in 1999.

Throughout her long and meaningful life, Barbara embodied warmth, resilience and strength. Barbara was a loyal member of First Baptist Church of Vienna.  She was a member of the SWAP Committee as well as serving as an Usher.  She took great pride and pleasure in these endeavors.

Barbara is predeceased by her husband Quentin, sisters Rosina and Virginia, and brothers Charles and Everett. Barbara is survived by three of her siblings, sister Dorothy and brothers James and Channing as well as her son Jeffrey and a host of extended family and friends.
