Carl Reich - AFIO Member, Marine, Investigator

Carl William Reich was born in Los Angeles, CA in April, 1948 to Carl William Reich, Sr. and Anna Reich. The family moved to the Coachella Valley in 1950. Carl graduated from Palm Springs High School early in 1965 with his class being 1966. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of twenty. He went through infantry training at Camp Pendleton and then to Reconnaissance, Demolitions and Scout Sniper training. He was a member of Force Recon Association and a Founding, Combat, Life member of United States Marine Corps Scout Sniper Association. He was also a life member of UDT-SEAL Association and a member of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers. Carl served in Vietnam through 1969 and was wounded right before his tour of duty ended. He was medically retired from the U.S. Marine Corps.

Carl married Lynn Smith in 1972 and they had two daughters, Andrea Kristine and Erin Michelle.

He was a member of the Palm Springs Police Department and worked vice, narcotics and organized crime intelligence. Carl was an insurance agent with the Auto Club of Southern California for 16 years. He took early retirement and at age 42 went back to law school at Chapman University. He then went to work with the law firm of Thomas Anderson and Associates for a number of years. During this time he became a Certified Legal Investigator, one of about 100 in the world, a very specialized field. He was the Western Regional Director of the National Association of Legal Investigators. He later left the law firm and started Carlyn Investigative Services with his wife Lynn and daughter Erin. During this time he became a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Examiners and a Fellow of the American College of Forensic Examiners. He was an investigator for the book "Stolen Valor.”
