Ren Miller - Former Chief of CIA’s Directorate of Operations’ Africa Division

Rennick (Ren) Victor Miller passed away peacefully in his sleep early in the morning of July 10, 2026 at his home in Great Falls, Virginia after a long pulmonary illness.

Ren was born in Shinnston, West Virginia on April 21, 1944.  He was the youngest of six children of Francis Oscar and Fanny Bell Miller.  His brothers Maynard, Mitchell, Maurice and Merrill and sister Janice predeceased him.  At one time Ren and all of his brothers were serving in all of the branches of the armed forces at the same time. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of eighteen.  He served four tours in Vietnam and South East Asia.  He was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency while in Vietnam.  He served a long career in the Agency and retired as Chief of Africa Division.  Ren's wife, Wanda Louise Miller, survives him.

There will be no funeral or published obituary per Ren's wishes.
