Holmes Glenn Hunt, 57, a beloved husband and father, passed away on August 4, 2026 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Glenn was born on August 18, 1968, in Danville, Virginia. He grew up in Milton, North Carolina, and graduated from Sutherland Academy before earning a bachelor’s degree in business and a MBA from Averett University. He later earned a Master of Arts in Communications and Public Relations from American University. After college, he moved to the Washington, DC area where he built both his career and his family.
For 33 years, Glenn proudly served our nation in his career at the Central Intelligence Agency, where he built a career he truly loved. Much of his work will remain untold but one story captures who he was better than any job title. Glenn helped coordinate a Make-A-Wish visit for a little girl named Allie, who dreamed of being a spy. He spent the day escorting Allie and her family throughout the Agency, making sure every moment felt special. Before she left, he presented her with a personalized CIA badge made just for her. It read: “Agent 6 and ½.” She was buried with it just a few months later. Glenn taught us all that the most important mission is kindness.
Outside of work, Glenn was a private pilot who found freedom in the skies as well as being an accomplished sky diver with 13 jumps. Ironically, though, he wouldn’t ride a roller coaster.
Glenn’s favorite role was being Connor’s dad. They shared a love of NASCAR and all things racing. From cub scouts all the way to learning football, Glenn encouraged Connor’s interests and always cheered him on. His deep love of his family was at the center of his life.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 24 years, Courtney, his son, Connor, his sister-in-law, Meredith Timmons and her husband, Tristan; his father-in-law, Ed Runion, and his wife, Paula; and his aunts, Patsy Bass and Nancy Hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Glenn and Lorena Hunt, and his uncles Penn Hunt and Thomas Hunt.
A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in honor of the little girl who reminded Glenn and us that kindness is the greatest mission of all.
