6 Nov 2025 - 9am-5pm
Nuffield College, Oxford
Lord Robin Butler announced the findings of the Review into the intelligence on Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction at the inaugural meeting of the Oxford Intelligence Group at Nuffield College.
Twenty years later, Lord Butler will return to the OIG for a two-day conference on the legacy of his Review.
Panels of speakers drawn from international researchers and other experts will examine how the Butler Review changed the public perception of ‘intelligence’ and the implications for democratic accountability and public policy in the UK and internationally. The Conference will show that the Review was far from being the last word on this subject. Tickets are £300 and include a ‘High Table’ Conference dinner in Nuffield Hall on 6 November.
Keynote speakers:
Paul Rimmer, Former Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence
Rt Hon Alistair Burt, Former Minister of State FCO
Sir David Omand, Chair of the Butler Implementation Group and former Director GCHQ
